How to give yourself a bit of motvation

We all have those days.... especially me... where you find yourself waking up and feeling a bit well, rubbish.
Everything thing seems wrong, you didn't get any sleep, your hairs a mess, everything you try on makes you feel like a hefflelump, you see others and want cry because they are Kate Moss in comparison to yourself blah, blah, blah. You get my drift.

Well, I wanna help out, so here are my tips on how to feel fabulous and turn any street in to your own catwalk.

1. Find yourself a personal anthem:

Music is one of my favourite things in the world and it can really change your mood, and for me having a personal song that you hear in the morning that can have a huge impact on your attitude. I have a few personal songs that I listen whilst I get ready in the morning and they help me get in a good frame of mind.

I ADORE THIS VERSION OF THE CAB CALLOWAY CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The big, load, unforgiving brass at the start of this song gives an instant feel of empowerment and confidence for me and the sexy, swinging beat of the song if the perfect beat for me to walk down the street with my head up high, even when its cats and dogs. I love Robbie Williams raw vocals and of course, the most famous part of the song, the Hei di Hei hi's make me feel all excited and ready to talk on the people of the world. Minnie the Moocher is also a burlesque anthem and as a inspiring burlesque performer, this song helps me keep an eye on my aspirations as well as installing the seduction and mystery of burlesque dancer in me for the day. This song is a must for anyone who wishes to be mysterious and sensual as well as bold and daring during the day.

This song is the song that keeps me going on a daily basis. The hopeful message of the song about no matter how bad things are, you can always start again by putting on foot in front of the other foot, is a very important message to me and also to lots of other people and also that you can make yourself feel better or over come bad times by just doing something basic such as putting one foot out of the bed and having the ability to get out of bed. I also love how the song builds up and how the excitement and hope gets bigger and bigger through out the song and how the strings become louder as well as the vocals and the very present army drum plays throughout and it really gets the blood flowing through my veins. Emilie Autumn is a very important person in my life and her music, personality, style and all round presence keeps me going on a daily basis.

This is my favourite song ever! This song gets me motivated because of the anthem feel and also the message about carrying on through hard times, I also love the drums and the amazing vocals and just the whole feel of the song. I cant even begin to describe just how much I love it! I hear it at every party I go to, most of my friends love this song and it was the song that I would listen to in the summer in the park with all my mates, so this song makes me think of all the great times I have and the adrenaline rush of singing along with other people. I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(anyway back to sensible blog writing Eleanor...)

2. Find the right shade of lippy:

I know this ones very girly but I do believe in the power of good makeup and how it can effect your mood and perception of yourself. I always wear a bright red lipstick as I love all things vintage and I draw inspiration from style icons such as Dita Von Teese, Veronica Varlow, Bettie Page and Marylin Monroe.

Once I realised that one key thing to the vintage look is red lipstick I searched for the perfect colour, after many lipsticks I found my perfect lippy. Marks and Spencer's Cranberry Lipstick, its a matte lipstick that still delivers on shine, it doesn't smudge and also lasts a VERY long times. It also smells great and stands out with out the red being to harsh.

3. Choose a scent that will make you feel fabulous

There is nothing nicer than walking past someone and they have the most amazing perfume/ aftershave on and for me it always leaves lasting impression on me. I also love the feeling of getting ready in the morning and spraying on a refreshing perfume. For me, the smell awakens my senses as well as my brain. But its important to choose a perfume that will work well with your personality and also that you enjoy because you wouldn't go out the house wearing something you hate so don't do the same with perfume.

The perfume that I use is, DKNY be delicious green apple, as I adore the smell of apples and the smell reminds me of summer due to its freshness. It also lasts a very long time and is very good value for money.

If you don't like the smell of heavy perfumes or you want the perfume scent to be more descreet then I suggest hair perfume. I recently just found out about hair perfume and what you do is you spray it on before you dry your hair and also after you dry it. Its not to heavy and is also very fresh and is great for those with skin allergies and it soaks into your hair and is mainly water with a drop of essence, such as rose. The brand I use was sent to me by Hair Magazine (great mag by the way, go and read it!) and it is Pivoine Flora by L'occitane En Provance and I was delighted with the results!

4. Posture

For once, listen to your mother and sit up straight! Posture can make all the difference in a person physically and mentally. By rolling your shoulders back and down and straightening your back allows for more air to get to your diarphram and therefore allowing more air to get into your body, which does wonders for your skin, mind and just life in general. By also sitting up straight it makes you come across as more confident and assertive, it also allows for someone to feel more confident in themselves, which allows for them to be more friendly and more outgoing, which is always good for your social life.  Good posture is also great as it makes you look thinner and also if you sit up straight it can help you loose weight, alot nicer than going to the gym.

If you struggle with your posture, you can easily address that by doing yoga, or standing against a wall and standing in chair position, trust me as a singer who told to do this every single week by her teacher it does work! Or imagine that someone has you on a piece of string on the top of your head and that they are pulling you upwards, this always works for me.

5. CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!!!! EATING CHOCOLATE IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO HELP YOU FEEL BETTER!!!!!

In all seriousness, it really does. Chocolate releases a chemical called Serotonin, which is a chemical released by your body to make you feel happy. So the next time someone finds you eating all the chocolate and they ask you why you are stuffing your face, just say you need some Serotonin.

6. A quote a day keeps the sadness away

For me, one of the best things that get me motivated is a good quote, whether it be from a film, a song, a book, or a person, sometimes taking advice of others is the best thing to do. So here are my favourite quotes:
