So what has happened to me?

Well, I am still alive! That's a start but I have realised that it has almost been over a year since I posted anything on my blog, which first of all I am very sorry about! It's always lovely to see peoples comments and emails and I feel really really bad for pretty much ignoring posting or replying but I will get back on the wagon and write more!

It has been a really bonkers few months since I last posted, here's a little catch up...

School is no longer a thing:

This year I sat my A Levels, which was traumatic to say the least! Hours of being sat in the library with my friend Alex surrounded by multiple text books, writing a million and one drama essays that came back with frankly appaling marks and trying not to have a complete, drinking lots of diet coke and coffee and trying not to have a mental breakdown every five minutes. The next time someone says A levels are becoming easier I will take my sociology text book and smack them around the face with it!

But despite all the tears, tantrums and turbulence endured during the space of a few months, I came out with a B in sociology and a C in drama and media, at first glance that may not sound fantastic, but eff it- I'm bloody proud of myself, especially as I am someone who cannot cope in a healthy way with these types of situations and I struggled to get those grades. I'm proud, that's all that matters... and whats next... I'll tell you in a minute!

But obviously when school ends, there are celbrations, so not only did we have a school leavers tea where we all got to see our year seven pictures (why did I wear a spotty pink hair band on the day for pictures?) but also picutres of our teachers at the age of eighteen and some hadn't changed at all, some where unregonsible and there were many a special haircut to be seen! But we also had prom, which was held at the stunning ethalm barn only half an hours drive from school!

I decided that I wouldn't go for the traditional long flowing dress because I'm too small and stumpy but also I wouldn't feel very comfy, I went with my favourite vintage style, a 1950's skater dress in black watch tartan with a black petite coat from the wonderful British Retro and a pair of red mary janes from Hobbs (which cost more than the dress!) I had my hair styled like Marilyn Monroe and did my own makeup, a classic winged eyeliner and red lips!

I travelled:

Me and a group of my closest friends embarked on our first ever European tour! 10 days, three locations, 14 hours on train, 2 hours flying, mutilple underground trips, one train up a mountain, all kinds of weather- from boiling hot to bloody freezing and one giant backpack that made me look like Yoshi after going to a massive sale!

Day One was a one day trip to see Paris, our tour guide was the ever lovely Harry who planned out the day to a T! Once we got off the Eurostar and dropped our bags off we headed to the Père Lachaise Cemetery, which is a graveyard built on a steep hill with some beautiful graves who hold the resting place of some equally beautiful souls, one of which was the Doors singer Jim Morrison and the writer Oscar Wilde.

We then moved on towards Notre Dame, which I had never been in before, I felt very fortunate that the others said they would go in again. I was overwhelmed at the sheer beauty of Notre Dame and the colours that threw up the ceilings and walls from the stain glass windows. I lit a candle in remembrance of those who I have lost and sat and looked up at the glass window for about ten minutes, I can't put into words what I felt but I left feeling incredibly moved.

We then crossed the bridge with all the padlocks on and then moved on to the Louvre and before you ask, we didn't go in to see the Mona Lisa, I didn't want to pay to see her frown.

We then picked up our bags and headed to the tiniest of flats up some very very narrow stairs (which was very funny with my tortoise shell!) I had a quick shower because I smelt like an old shoe before heading back out for dinner at Montmartre. It was breath taking to see the city as the sun was setting and to see all the little restaurants and shops. We then returned to the flat and slept for a few hours before waking up again to get the train to our next location.....

SWITZERLAND!

We stayed in a small flat in the mountains, the view was breath taking and it was the perfect temperature, not cold but not sticky and hot, just right. With Alex as our tour guide and translator, we went up waterfalls, came down on high ropes (especially me, who had to be lowered down after freaking the hell out) and lay down under a sheet of stars, gazing at milky ways and making wishes on every shooting star we saw.

During the week we experienced heat, thunderstorms and snow.... yes that's right.... SNOW. Let me explain.

One morning we all went up the Jungfraujoch (aka the top of Europe) which was a mountain that had an indoor area as well as the opportunity to go to the top of Europe and there was so much snow!

The best part was the sledging, you paid a small amount for a sledge or a rubber ring and you could sledge down the mountain, it was absolutely incredible and defiantly the highlight of the holiday for me!

For our last two days we travelled to Berlin, Katie this time being in charge! One eight hour train journey we arrived to a very comfy flat with free chocolate and champagne (which we all enjoyed very very much!) we all headed out into town to experience the shopping in Berlin. We saw parts of the berlin wall and all the art work that it had painted on its sides that now stand as a testament to freedom. We also stocked up on plenty of clothing, booze and CD's (my Amy Winehouse album collection is now complete with my purchase of Frank).

We saw the Brandenburg gate and the monuments that lay near by, but we waited until nightfall to go to the holocaust memorial. I didn't realise that as you walked through the pillars became taller and the ground became deeper. For a while, I felt overwhelmed and terrified as when you got the centre it almost became pitch black and you would glance up and see shadows of people sat above you, but as I left I almost felt a sense of freedom, the memorial is a must see for anyone travelling to Berlin and stands as a moving and ever important and necessary memorial to those lost during the holocaust.

Looking back on the trip, I feel incredibly happy that I went. It taught me so much, from history to different cultures as well as allowing me to see some breath-taking and awe inspiring sights and also giving me experiences that I will probably never be able to do again.

And probably the most significant change of them all:

And no I'm not talking about dying my hair ginger....

I left home.

On results day, I eventually logged on to UCAS to see my fate for the next three years. I was convinced that I was going to go through clearing, I peeked through my fingers and

"Congratulations Eleanor Rose, you've been accepted to study Drama and Theatre BA Hons at The University of Kent"

My heart stopped for a second, I had done it, I had got my first choice. I turned to my parents barely being able to speak, my mum gave me a huge hug and my dad threw his arms up in the air with a massive "WHHHHHEEEEEEY!!!" and before you knew it, I was buying saucepans, multiple bags of linen and collecting hangers to be all set for my move to Canterbury.

Freshers week came and went and I would tell you about it but I don't really remember it! Budgeting is proving difficult but no one said it was easy and I am up to my knees in work and laundry but hey, you live and learn... right?

And here I am now,

Sat in my tiny room, my Harley Quinn poster in the background wearing only pants and an oversized top with my hair in need of a good cutting!

But it was worth all the tears and the long nights of studying, the arguing and the poor attempts to juggle school work and plays outside of school and the countless times of going "fuck it, I give up!" because for the first time in a long time I think I can say,

I think the girl done good!

My blog will now be me talking about me being a student, trying to live on my budget, keeping my room tidy and hey I might even come up with a few hacks to make life easier for everyone!

But in the mean time, thanks for sticking with me. X
